Strategic Planning

Management Partners can provide the guidance and facilitation to define your organization's vision, mission, values and goals. Creating a strategic plan that articulates the direction you are going can help assure that the governing body, management team and staff are on the same path. It can:
-
- Define essential outcomes and performance expectations
- Spark new thinking about what “success” looks like
- Help governing bodies match priorities with resources
- Create clarity about strategies to pursue to achieve goals
- Convey confidence about the future of the organization
A strategic plan creates consensus about expectations and provides guidelines for the use of resources.
Our successes with this service include the projects highlighted below.
Mansfield, CT
Management Partners assisted the Town of Mansfield, Connecticut (home of the University of Connecticut) with a strategic planning project that utilized the Search Conference methodology. The Town identified over 70 individuals to participate in their strategic planning process. Management Partners planned and facilitated two sessions (each two days in length) with participants who reached consensus on a vision for the Town as well as priority goals and strategies to reach those goals. A graphic recorder added excitement to the process. The Town also utilized in-person and virtual open houses to solicit input from the general community. The result of the effort is a strategic plan and accompanying action plans to guide implementation.
Montgomery, OH
Management Partners has assisted the City of Montgomery with several projects, including designing and facilitating three strategic planning processes at five-year intervals with City Council and staff (including a community input component), developing a resident survey, and providing consultation and assistance with performance measurement. The strategic plan involved identifying short- and long-term goals as well as a vision and values statement. An Implementation Action Plan was also included to keep Council and staff updated on the progress of the work.
Sacramento Area Council of Governments, CA
The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG), one of the most widely respected metropolitan planning agencies in the United States, engaged Management Partners to assist in creating a multi-year strategic plan that melded the requirements of the federal Overall Work Program with modern organizational strategic planning. In completing this project, we designed the process, facilitated workshops, created an environmental scan, prepared the strategic plan, and created a template for creating a business plan to implement the strategic plan. The plan was adopted by the Board.
“Your organization has set the bar far higher than most in your business can hope to reach. Thank you, and all who were involved. Very well done.” – Jim Pfeffer, Treasurer, City of Blue Ash, OH |
