Santa Monica, CA Woodland Cemetary Organizational Review

Santa Monica, CA Woodland Cemetary Organizational Review

Management Partners was retained to conduct an organizational and financial sustainability analysis of the City’s Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum and Mortuary, one of only five municipally owned cemeteries in the State of California. The project involved staff interviews, benchmarking with comparable public cemeteries, a review of operations and profit and loss analyses. We also conducted research on the death care industry, its economic drivers, and alternative service delivery options.  The project report identified 18 recommendations for improving Woodlawn’s operation and fiscal sustainability, most of which are being implemented.

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, KY

Management Partners conducted a review of the entire consolidated Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The review covered all municipal functions including Finance and Administration, General Services, Law, Public Works and Development, Environmental Quality and Public Safety, as well as functions managed in the Mayor's office. The goal of the review was to apply best practices throughout, to define a program of implementing the most current techniques to municipal management and to take advantage of efficiencies throughout. The study's recommendations identified savings of close to $10 million when fully implemented.

Topeka, KS

Management Partners completed an optimization study for the following departments: Executive, Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Zoo, Planning, and Housing and Neighborhood Development. The final report contained recommendations for improvement in the Topeka City government that are designed to improve organizational effectiveness and ensure that municipal services are provided in the most efficient method possible. The recommendations are estimated to result in up to $1.8M in operating cost reductions.
