Julie Mares Joins Management Partners as Chief Operating Officer
Julie Mares, who has held a wide range of roles in her 24-year local government career, including city manager of Milpitas, California, is joining Management Partners as chief operating officer. Mares will have operating responsibility for the entire firm, which serves local government leaders across the U.S. to improve their organizations.
Management Partners has three national offices and approximately 100 associates, including 23 former city/county managers. We have served nearly 1,000 clients in 42 states.

Mares’ local government service spans three cities – 11 years in San Jose and 12 in Tucson, in addition to her tenure in Milpitas – and roles as varied as City Manager, Deputy City Manager of Neighborhood Services, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services, Deputy Director of Budget and Research, and Human Resources Administrator. Her varied experience, both in functions and jurisdictions, will be an asset to Management Partners, which assists small, mid-sized and large cities, counties and special districts. Her responsibility for strategic planning and process improvement prepares her well for our consulting work.
