As I read this New York Times article about public pension issues in our country, it made me think about the genesis of the problem and what the future holds.  The article includes some interesting data about pension gaps by state.  It’s true that a variety of economic factors and many different parties share responsibility for high public pension costs.  But it’s too bad that hard working municipal employees, most of whom try to do the best they can for the communities they serve and won’t experience the excessive benefits being widely reported, are painted in such a negative light.
